Several folks asked some questions about the wedding and so here is my linky linky to things we did.
First, we split things into what we both really wanted and what we cared the most about. I cared about food and photos, Sue cared about the ceremony, the cake, and location. We both chose the rings.
We got married at The Colonial Dames Society. Whenever I say that I want to sing "Aint Nothin' Like a Dame!" Recommended by a friend.. a perfect fit for us. It is located in CC Philly. It can only house 100 people for fire code reasons.. we invited 100 and 85 showed up. A perfect fit.
We used M Catering. We had decided to use them when they were Manna Catering and gave 100% of their profits to Manna. Manna changed it's mission statement and let the Catering aspect go, but sold the rights to the folks who run M Catering now. We loved the food and 10% of their profits go back to Manna.
We used Barone Photography for our pics. The owner is the husband of a knitting friend. He sent us a preview and we love it. (links when they are up!)
We both attend Dignity Philadelphia. Dignity is the gay catholic church which welcomes all walks of life: gay, straight, family, and friends. There are Dignity churches all over the place and we love it b'c at our church many members are living with partners who are of different faiths. They attend together b'c the church is so inclusive. Fr. Robert did our wedding and we just love him. We did have a full catholic service. And he totally rocked it.
The cake was from Classic Cake Company. We did not make the cake.. and it was delish.
Wine was local. We went with a great rec from a friend with Va La Winery. I had their wine before and was pleased we could use their wine for the wedding. And everyone liked it.. it was entirely gone at the end of the day.
Rings were from Halloween, a local jewelry store which features new designs as well as antiques. We found an antique ring we liked, he made a mold and made us matching rings.
