I did the scariest thing this week.
I up-ended the stash into the living room.
Yup.. all of it. Sue's, mine, etc.
It was time for the great stash dump for many, many reasons. One was that I couldn't find a sweater I had started last yr. I looked for two weeks without finding it. I decided that I had had enough of not knowing where things were. Then there is the retreat coming up. People bring their extra yarn to the swap table and I needed to weed the wool.
The last reason is this year's New Beginnings project. I have to make the big decision of what I will make for me. I spend alot of time making things for others. My stash is pretty schizophrenic that way. Half of it is yarn (1 or 2 balls) for little projects for others. The other half are HUGE projects for me. Projects I never start b'c they are the BIG projects and those small projects for others are so much easier/tempting/"fast" that I figure I should do it first.
So I am weeding the wool and putting myself first. But I do have to say.. it really is an embarrassment of riches. Sue's wool takes up 1 bin. Mine takes up 2 bins.. but the spinning fiber takes up 2 whole bins and then a full bag of zeilingers processed roving from the fleeces last yr. Sue has maybe 3 sweater's worth of yarn and about 60 balls of sock yarn. I find it funny that she constantly quotes Stephanie to me about how sock yarn doesn't count. That sure is a heavy bin for something that doesn't count. I have about 5 sweater's worth of yarn and enough roving to make at least several more.
So this is where you can help. Help me decide what to make for my New Beginnings project.
Anj- I voted but I want to make a comment - Use the yummy cashmere!
