This book was recommended to me by a bookseller at the airport in Denver. She said that people come back and told her they were glad they had read it. I put it on my to-read list and never got around to it until now.
A sweet book. Maybe a story with a bit too much metaphor (racing=life seems to be hammered down a bit often..) Told from the point of view of a dog, making the story seem to have a fresh perspective. Definitely a flair for the melodramatic. (again.. maybe this is just that dogs POV are more dramatic?) Personally cathartic.
All of this starts to sound negative but it is not. I enjoy myself a bit of cathartic reading. I LOVE stories told from a different perspective. I enjoy metaphor (ok maybe not this much) and appreciate stories with a moral/reminder to live and be happy.
Enzo is a dog to a race car driver. One who is at the beginning of his career. One whose family life goes to the darkest places and struggles to come out the other side. All of this thru the eyes of a loving dog who believes in the evolution of the soul.
I enjoyed it very much. And I cried like a baby. A fun book I would recommend to race fanatics and dog lovers
